ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY WASTEOur objective is to minimise the amount of waste we send to landfill or, in the case of hazardous waste, for destruction. |
|
With advice and support from Lucia Stafford of Green4Life (www.green4liferecycling.com), we have recently implemented a recycling programme, which has enabled us to achieve a recycling rate of more than 90% of our waste
The key elements of this programme are:
End of life products taken back are, as far as is practical, refurbished, using the original cabinet and as many of the original components as possible, and placed back into the market as refurbished machines
Damaged or defective components taken in are, as far as is practical, repaired and placed back into the market as service exchange components
Packing materials taken in are, as far as is practical, reused for despatches
Metal, stripped of any non metallic items, is recycled via our principal metalwork supplier
Paper (including magazines, brochures and envelopes), cardboard, polythene film (including shrink wrap and bubble wrap) and plastic drinks cups are recycled via Green4Life (www.green4liferecycling.com)
Wire, cable, miscellaneous electrical and electronic components, devices and equipment and batteries are recycled via Triple e Recycling (www.eeerecycling.co.uk), which is an AATF (Approved Authorised Treatment Facility) for WEEE (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment), licensed by the Environment Agency
The only waste we now send to landfill comprises general soiled
waste (eg: food packaging, floor sweepings) and expanded polystyrene packaging,
which we are currently looking to find a recycling solution for or to eliminate
