1. Defrauding machines (models: all)

Over recent months, we have received a flurry of reports of machines being defrauded

In all cases we have been able to investigate, we have identified that the machines have been upgraded or converted with non Thomas supplied and non Thomas approved components

Before approving a component for use in Thomas machines, we carry out extensive testing of the range of components available, to determine the one which gives the best balance of security, durability, reliability and cost

It may well be that cheaper alternatives are available from sources other than Thomas but it may also be the case that the lower cost component entails a compromise on security, durability or reliability and, if you do purchase your update or conversion from another source and run into difficulties with it, we will be unable to assist you

2. FINAL REMINDER – Ardac WACS banknote reader obsolescence (models: all 3000 and 4000 plus 5001)

Please remember that, as we have been advising regularly since early 2005:

Availability of spare parts and service for the Ardac WACS Eagle banknote reader (red Thomas label) terminates at 31 December 2009

Please contact us as soon as possible, to explore the options available to you to upgrade the banknote reader in your Thomas machine and, thus, extend its useful life beyond the end of 2009
